Two New Doctorates Emerge from the FKIP UMS Doctoral Program in Education: Sri Suwartini and Ilham Sunaryo Officially Earn Their Doctoral Degrees.

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) has once again marked a proud academic achievement with the graduation of two new doctorate holders from its Doctoral Program in Education. Sri Suwartini and Ilham Sunaryo successfully defended their dissertations during their respective Doctoral Promotion Sessions held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the 5th Floor Graduate Seminar Room, UMS Campus 2.

Sri Suwartini: Integrating Local Wisdom into Pancasila Education

The first session took place from 09.00 to 11.00 AM, with doctoral candidate Sri Suwartini presenting her dissertation titled:
“Development of a Pancasila Education Module Oriented Toward Local Wisdom to Cultivate Environmental Awareness among Elementary School Students in Klaten.”

Her research emphasized the importance of integrating local cultural values into Pancasila Education modules as a strategy to foster environmental awareness and character building among young learners. By developing a contextual learning module rooted in students’ cultural backgrounds and daily lives, the study offers a practical and meaningful contribution to education.

Ilham Sunaryo: Emulating the Thought of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan in Early Childhood Teacher Education

The second session was held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, featuring doctoral candidate Ilham Sunaryo, who presented his dissertation titled:
“The Contributions of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan’s Thought and Religiosity to Self-Commitment and Its Impact on the Teaching Performance of Aisyiyah Kindergarten Teachers in Surakarta.”

This research explored the ideas of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, the founder of Muhammadiyah, as a foundation for strengthening the religious values and professional commitment of Aisyiyah kindergarten teachers. Ilham Sunaryo demonstrated that strong Islamic thought can significantly enhance teacher motivation and performance in shaping early childhood education holistically.

His doctoral committee included:
