FKIP UMS Conducts Comparative Study and Benchmarking Visit to the Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) and the Graduate School of AMIKOM University Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, 2 Oktober 2025 – Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (FKIP UMS) carried out a comparative study and benchmarking visit to the Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) and the Graduate School of AMIKOM University Yogyakarta on Wednesday, October 2, 2025.
This activity aimed to strengthen the initiative to establish new distance learning programs (PJJ) within FKIP UMS.

The FKIP UMS delegation was led by Ahmad Chamsudin, S.T., M.Eng., as the Head of Laboratory of FKIP UMS, accompanied by:

  • Prof. Dr. Harsono, SU., Head of Master of Educational Administration Study Program,

  • M. Fahmi Johan Syah, Ph.D., Head of Integrated Learning Laboratory, FKIP,

  • Dr. Nur Subekti, M.Or., Vice Dean III of FKIP UMS,

  • Arifin Sri Hascaryo, S.E., Educational Staff of FKIP UMS, and

  • Murdayanto, S.Kom., Head of Administrative Office of FKIP UMS.

The study programs being initiated under the distance learning (PJJ) scheme include:

  1. Doctoral Program in Education

  2. Master Program in Educational Administration

  3. Master Program in Primary Education

This activity marks a strategic step for FKIP UMS in preparing the academic system, curriculum, and quality management for distance learning at the graduate level.
Through this benchmarking visit, the FKIP UMS team explored best practices of distance learning implementation from two universities experienced in effective online education.

The visit to the Graduate School of UNY focused on academic governance and quality assurance systems for distance learning in a public university setting, while the visit to the Graduate School of AMIKOM University Yogyakarta provided insights into technological innovation and Learning Management System (LMS) management.

The results of this benchmarking activity are expected to serve as academic and administrative foundations in establishing the three new distance learning programs at FKIP UMS, while strengthening the faculty’s commitment to delivering quality, adaptive, and competitive higher education in the digital era.
