Message on the Role of AI and Character Building

In her remarks, Dr. Mauly Halwat Hikmat noted that education today is closely tied to technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). She emphasized that while AI is useful, its implementation must be guided by strong character and wisdom. She encouraged the graduates to continue contributing to society through their work.

Prof. Dr. dr. EM Sutrisna, Vice Rector IV of UMS, echoed similar sentiments, stating that while AI is cognitively smart, it lacks affective and psychomotor dimensions. “Being an educator is a noble profession and a form of ongoing charity (amal jariyah),” he said. He highlighted the importance of soft skills and character in shaping future educators.

Inspiring Talks from Faculty and Alumni

The motivational session was delivered by Muhammad Luthfi Hidayat, M.Pd., Ph.D., an award-winning lecturer from the Biology Education program and a graduate of King Abdulaziz University. He reminded the graduates that the future requires more than just ordinary teachers. Instead, we need CAKAP teachers—an acronym he defined as:
Cerdas (Smart), Amanah (Trustworthy), Kolaboratif (Collaborative), Aktif (Active), and Peduli (Caring).

The event also featured an inspiring alumni session by Dr. Indiah Dewi Murni, M.Pd., a proud graduate of UMS’s undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral education programs. Dr. Indiah has achieved academic excellence and made significant societal contributions. She was awarded Outstanding Junior High School Principal at the provincial level in 2015 and currently serves as the head of Aisyiyah Regional Leadership (PDA) Sukoharjo.

In her message, she stated, “Every process will bear fruit. Whatever your profession, be empowered and impactful.” She urged graduates to stay committed to meaningful work and research, especially in schools, to create lasting contributions to education.

A Joyful Send-off

The event concluded with heartfelt messages from the graduating class, group photos, and performances that lifted the spirits—including traditional martial arts (pencak silat) and musical performances by students and faculty.
